What is Cloud Computing?
Many companies, IT pros, individuals, etc... have a different idea of what Cloud Computing means. Here is the short version of the Wikipedia definition of Cloud Computing: Cloud computing is Web-based processing, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices (such as smartphones) on demand over the Internet. So basically, Cloud Computing refers to the delivery of services and or resources via the internet. These services have been around for many years Cloud Computing is simply the term or phrase that has developed to describe them. Typical examples of Cloud Computing:
The most obvious form of Cloud Computing are delivered or hosted services by third party companies. In the past it may have been too expensive and or complicated for businesses to provide Cloud Services internally. That is no longer the case. Many corporations from Small business to Fortune 500 are utilizing Public and Private Cloud solutions in many cases a hybrid combination of the two. |
